Description
The ODM Slicer is a hand-operated corner-cutting tool used to trim the corners of cover material sheets before they enter the casemaking process. Cutting the corners of the cover material at a precise 45-degree angle before turning in is a standard step in professional hardcover casemaking, as it reduces bulk at the corners and produces a cleaner, tighter corner wrap when the material is folded around the case boards on the Stomper. The ODM Slicer performs this step quickly and consistently for each cover sheet.
The Slicer accommodates a stack height of up to one inch, allowing multiple cover sheets to be cut simultaneously in a single operation. This batch-cutting capability speeds up the corner-trimming step in a production environment without requiring the operator to cut each sheet individually. The cut angle and corner radius are set into the die and produce a consistent result across the stack.
The Slicer requires no electrical power and has no moving mechanical components beyond the cutting die and hand lever, making it extremely low-maintenance. It is designed to be used at the beginning of the casemaking sequence, before the cover sheets are fed through the Spreader. Its compact size allows it to be placed on a workbench adjacent to the casemaking line without occupying significant floor space. The Slicer is an essential accessory for any shop running the ODM Casemaking Line at volume, as clean corner cuts are a prerequisite for professional-quality finished hardcover cases.
