Description
The ODM Slider is the case gauging and positioning station in the ODM Casemaking Line. It is a precision sliding-table fixture that holds the cover boards in proper alignment relative to the adhesive-coated cover material before the assembly is transferred to the Stomper for turning-in. The Slider’s adjustable arms open to a maximum gap of 4 inches to accommodate a wide range of spine thicknesses, and it includes an adjustable side guide and an arm spacer kit for setting different joint gap widths between the spine board and the side boards.
The Slider provides the critical alignment function that determines joint accuracy and board placement in the finished case. By setting the board positions precisely before glue contact, it ensures that each case is built to consistent dimensions, which directly affects the quality of the casing-in step. A well-gauged case sits properly on the book block with even joints and flush board edges.
The Slider is a manual station with no electrical requirements, relying entirely on the operator to position the boards within the gauges before transferring the assembled case to the Stomper. Its simple, robust construction requires minimal maintenance. It is designed to work in sequence with the Spreader and Stomper as part of the complete ODM Casemaking Line, and its adjustments are quick to make when switching between different book sizes or spine thicknesses.
